Annoying at times, sleep-inducing at other times. Sound's like I'm listening to a moody bitch on her periods if I'm to be mean about it.

Thinking about black beauty replacing sad girl in the tracklist makes me wet

A lyrical and instrumental improvement from Born To Die, but Ultraviolence also shows how Lana relies on one sound to carry her throughout an album that was too long for it's own good. Two or three tracks should have been cut to slim down the project in order to make the album seem a little bit more varied than it actually is. Her songwriting is matured compared to how it was, but there are still some pretty stupid lines. And with the production, which I can understand why some would say ... read more

Maybe Lana Del Rey on her best. The organic instrumentals (most of them produced by The Black Keys' frontman, Dan Auerbach) reminds of her songs before the "indie-diva" status she gained with her successful debut album, Born to Die.
The producer said once "it's a sonic monster" wich describes major songs on this album such as the opening-track "Cruel World", "Ultraviolence" and "Fucked my Way up to The Top". On Ultraviolence, Lana Del Rey leaves ... read more

while most songs on ultraviolence drag on boringly for what seems like hours, it has its moments which are genuinely dark, poetic, and poignant (cruel world, west coast). ...but it's mostly just comprised of miserable crooning about being sad, being rich, (oh god, being rich must suck!), or whoring around to get money from rich men. like, we get it, you scammed a guy on craigslist once.

she uses too much reverb on top of almost every song here so the lyrics are barely audible, anyway, and i'm ... read more

Such an improvement over Born to Die. Lana Del Rey trades in generic alt-pop sounds for full-blown cinematic, expansive, dramatic rock arrangements, and it suits her voice much better. It's also a better album because the songs are better; Del Rey inhabits her character to a much more impressive degree, and even manages to give her character more depth than we'd expected.

Overproduced and oversold. Though one may argue Born To Die isn't the best thing Lana could put out there, it certainly had a more unique tone to it. The overuse of the same theme in every song over and over again gets tiring. We get it, Lana's a money loving sad girl who fantasizes about sugar daddies and L.A. a few decades ago. Nonetheless, it isn't a bad album - Cruel World, Brooklyn Baby, Shades Of Cool are above-decent tracks. The rest... meh. I just hope she doesn't fuck her way down to ... read more

I have to say that for the first 5-6 tracks I found myself seriously liking this album. However, when I reached the middle portion of the album( Fucked My Way To The Top, etc. ) I wanted to throw up. The album thankfully survives with a very strong final two tracks. Lana Del Rey is showing some serious promise, and hopefully she will make an album that I will enjoy in its entirety one day.

A vastly more unified album than Born To Die, which had superior hook composition and lyrical bizarrity. This one focuses on a more pop acceptable and critically pandering lyricism, but keeps much of the edgy and abstract sounds Lana is known for. The first half of the album may be superior, but as a whole the album perfects Lana's individuality and intelligent sound- even down to the subtle Charles Manson homage on the Deluxe addition in the song Guns and Roses, who covered his song Look ... read more

oh my GOD. I don't think I've ever seen an artist glow up like this before. One of my biggest complaints with Born To Die, her first album, was that it felt like Lana's immaturity as an artist showed, and you could tell she hadn't really found herself as an artist yet. But this, THIS my friends, is art. Ultraviolence, although dark, was clean, well produced, vocal heaven. Tracks like West Coast and Florida Kilos kept the overall vibe of the album from getting TOO dark. But this is Lana in ... read more

It's an improvement from her first release, but the lack of variety keeps being a weak point, it makes the experience so monotone and annoying.
Musically and lirically it's also a improvement, but I'd really like to see her writting even more mature and various topics in the future.

The queen is perfect in the album.

Competing directly with Honeymoon, Ultraviolence manages to unite Lana Del Rey with indie/rock/folk, resulting in almost-flawless work and completely different from Born to Die. Featuring songs that are more than 5 minutes long in almost any project, Ultraviolence allows the listener to travel in music and "move" to another plane.

I do enjoy the mood this album puts me in with the whole dream pop in the desert aesthetic to it. There are a lot of tracks that are memorable and I don't mind playing in sucession while I'm doing something else, the problem is when I pay closer attention...some lyrical moments are a bit cringy...but then again, some other ones contribute to the whole suburban girl detached from the listener persona that I find an interesting character portrayal to choose in the first place.... It's perfectly ... read more

Pontos fortes: West Coast, Cruel World, Shades of Cool

Pontos fracos: Fucked My Way Up to ... read more

Obra prima! Eu fico até de joelhos pra ouvir ele, ... read more

"Ultraviolence" has some kind of obscure nostalgia that makes the whole atmosphere pay attention what Lana going to sing in the next verses of the tracks from the album.

Lana already showed her true colors, as the romantic nostalgic singer that she is and that's it. Del Rey is not going to change at least she wants to, and "Ultraviolence" sounds more like an evolved state of art experience than a desperate look for identity.

Simply pathetic. This album revolves around her dumb, characterless personality; Her vocals may sound cute, but that airy voice can't disguise its own lack of talent from people who know a thing or two about singing. Back to what makes it a pathetic, self-pitiful album, on the title track we can see her failing to make us feel pity of how she's been trough an "abusive relationship" (which we don't even know if happened, since she's been faking her own life experiences since the ... read more

FAIXAS FAVORITAS: Shades of Cool, Fucked My Way Up To The Top, Cruel World, Ultraviolence.
