On the Strange Weather EP, she takes this signature style and applies it to the songs of other artists who share the same particular penchant for music that finds inspiration in the dark recesses of our minds. This proves stunningly successful


Strange Weather is a brief look at an artist’s range and acts like a splash of cold water to pay attention to Calvi’s every note, as she continues to be one of the most slept-on musical marvels around. 

The Skinny

Diverging form the fiery nature of some of Calvi’s original material, Strange Weather stands testament to a confident stylistic distinctiveness that spreads well over many textures. 


It’s only worth doing a version of someone else’s song if you bring something new to it. Anna Calvi certainly does that on this five-track EP of covers.

The Line of Best Fit

Calvi thrashes, broils, sweats, cries and lusts through the EP, and returns to reality remarkably unscathed from Strange Weather

A rather irrelevant EP from Anna Calvi. Despite her great voice and signature dark style being put on the project, the production here doesn't really compliment the overall moodiness of the effort, as her voice tends to get swallowed behind the instrumentation in the first two tracks (which aren't really good versions of the original ones, either).
