Less aggressive than the 2018 trap EP Binge and more pop-savvy than 2017 predecessor Bloom, Hotel Diablo presents MGK's melding of rap and rock in seamless fashion with balance and finesse.
Even an allusion to the rapper's highly publicised beef with Emimen can't lift this lumpen retread of weary, tried-and-tested rap-rock tropes.
UPDATEEE : Fuck it. this thing actually bops. If it wasn't for Marshall y'all would be praising the shit outta this.
I listened to this early because I somehow got super curious about whether MGK would deliver another generic slog with pop and rock hints like bloom, or he would deliver an extension of the annoying wannabe SoundCloud sad rapper mixtape that Binge was, because there is no way he would actually make a good album.

I do not care at all for nearly any of the songs on here but el diablo is quite a banger
Opening track "Sex Drive" is an amazing way to start an album!
Was also pleasently surprised for most of the rest of the album as I had no high expectations.
MGK’s peak inside his rap career. This album is very down to earth, emotional, and very heavy. Lots of fast speed rapping that Kelly should give light to more. Like honestly, the dude has a talent and threw it away for a guitar… I hope he returns to this style soon.
Hotel diablo shows significant improvement for Machine Gun Kelly, even at it's worst it still feels like he's growing as an artist.
Floor 13 is a decent track. His flow is mostly passable (trust me that's a good thing) and the production is actually great. I really like the use of guitars here, it makes it feel dark and heavy without being too edgy. My only big problem with this pne is the lyrics, I think that's the only reason I wouldn't listen to it again.
