Despite how cheesy and dismissive classic rock can be at times, ZZ Top's definitive record Eliminator is a relatively rare example of solid classic rock from the 80s. The decade is kinda notorious for its weak offering of rock music. Hair metal and cheesy pop-rock topped the charts during those days; overshadowing truly great material from rising indie bands and British bands. The 80's weren't the prettiest years for Rock music compared to genres like Pop and New Wave. due to the genres lack of of lyrical evolution and the downfall of psychedelia from the 60's It resulted in many Rock LPs to come off as tacky and uninspired.
