After a nine year hiatus from any solo albums you'd expect McCartney to come back with a mild at best return to form but in a pleasant surprise he seems more experimental than ever even if some of the results are mixed. Of course the album is very poppy but just like the cover art many songs on here are unlike even some of the weirder parts of the Beatles discography on records such as Magical Mystery tour or Revolver even. This album is a little experimental, as there are some strange things in this album. There are some great songs on McCartney II, but the majority of the songs are just good and alright. Okay, this album is starting to grow on me a little bit. This record within Paul's dicography comes to me as a little bit disappointing, as he was coming back to his solo carreer after an incredible run with the Wings. But what he did here is completely different than anything before.
