Kanye West delivers his most forgettable and painfully corny album with Jesus Is King, a project that doesn't even sound finished. Every single track sounds completely rushed and the album has nothing to say, really. It's like a "The Big Day" but for God. No memorable lines expect for the outstandingly hilarious "CHICK FIL-A" and no good beats either. The way the vocals and the bass were mixed made me check if my headphones had a problem or something. The songs range from ... read more

FATHER I STRETCH
STRETCH MY HANDS TO YOU

Lifelike, this what Kanye's life like?, tryna' review Yeezy right
JIK crawlin' outta nowhere like sewer mice
Album's like a church choir, but really very Kanye-like
Every single track like, Christian's holy Sunday night
I was tryna' take my time, it didn't click with me right
I was wearing red flannels thinking Kanye wasn't bright
I was tryna' ignore the whole album just like Pipe
Then I cleared my whole mind, realized this what I like
Took a big JIK ... read more

Just reminding you sinners that rating this negatively will reserve your spot in the depths of Hell next to Moloch himself. May the power of Christ compel you.

Now, with all that said I believe that God would not approve of Kanye blue balling us for a month. However, I am more than impressed with this project. Kanye is not limiting himself to gospel music, despite what he says, but is integrating both Christian themes into his lyrics and traditional gospel instrumentation with ... read more

Throughout all the years of popular music one truth has remained: if you have run dry on inspiration just add in more gospel.

Wake up, Mr. Jesus!

Jesus, if you can hear me from Heaven, please help me. Me? I'm a poor human, my name is Math, something happened to me today... something horrible. I am not a christian, I am an atheist, but I have decided to write this review as a kind of prayer, I would like you to hear me even if you are probably lounging in a deckchair on a cloud as I speak to you...

You know, Kanye West is one of my favorite artists of all time, he has played a very important role in my life. Like ... read more

what is going on Kanye?

Kanye West is one of the most polarizing figures of the 21st century so far, when he announced a couple weeks back that he would say that he would stop making non- secular music, that's when I started to really worry about the album. First of all, the damn title, his albums always have iconic titles like My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy or Yeezus or The College Dropout. This just sounds like a Luke Bryan or Blake Shelton album title. Let's be honest this is his 'The ... read more

JOKES ON YOU!
THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT AN 100
Here is the actual review,

[Edit: Selah and a couple of the other songs are actually growing on me...I think if it was longer and featured even more topics my rating would definitely be higher.]

I can’t help but applaud Kanye for his sincerity and ambition in this sudden shift to Christian-centric music, this was an immensely bold action. As a Christian myself, it is cool to see someone with such societal status as himself essentially quit ... read more

EDIT (When it actually came out, 10/25/19): Yeah, this is gonna be the first album people will legitimately pan. When this album was announced, my first immediate thought was "ugh". I haven't been the biggest supporter of Kanye's politics, all while loving his albums still. When he announced this album, it was the first time I felt he had changed himself into some conservative old man, who now has to spread the word of Gospel to a world where Christianity is declining.

The first time ... read more

After almost a year of waiting, we finally get Ye's "Jesus is King". Kanye delivers an album with amazing musicality but lacks in the lyrical department. The production on this album carries it for sure. The stellar production gives off some TLOP vibes but it's still different. The features also do great on here with Ty Dolla Sign, Ant Clemens and Clipse doing great on the songs they are featured on. The main problem with the album other than the many missed release dates seems to be ... read more

So I have this thing I do with artists I really care about where I listen to the last song on the last album before jumping into the new one. "Cudi Montage" transitioning to "Every Hour" scared the shit out of me lmao.

Let's get this off the bat, yes, "Closed on Sunday" is his worst song ever. Now everybody can shut up about "Hot and Drunk Girls" and I can finally enjoy that song in peace! Thanks Kanye! But yeah, the Chick Fil A song is so bad I don't ... read more

jesus is king when?

jesus is king

"kanye west is an american rapper born on the 8th of june 1977": I sometimes feel like this is general knowledge since he's such an influencial figure in music and pop culture. he's been so highly praised from critics, but sometimes so hated in the general eye for his pretty questionable views. but he manages to still be one of the most beloved figures of all time in hip hop and music in general. and the fact that he released this out of nowhere ... read more

I'm So Appalled

I was going to write an actual review because its kanye and if you dont write a research paper on everything he does you are officially exiled from the music community, but even thinking about this album gives me a migraine. I just can't. This album sounds so blatantly unfinished and horrifically ugly. The fact that people heard this album and said "yeah that's good we should release that" is truly astounding to me.

Kanye really got on everyone's nerves constantly announcing new music, then not dropping it. First it was supposed to be Yandhi, but the whole project got leaked, so „Jesus Is King”, a gospel album was announced to come out with a movie attached to it. Finally, after a long and frustrating wait it’s here, but was it really worth it?

Well, actually I really wish Kanye would take some more time to finish and perfect this project, because it simply sounds rushed and unfinished. ... read more

So after a Iot of aIbums i'm finaIIy giving a negative score to Kanye.

This aIbum is not bad but not great either, it just adds nothing to the tabIe. Even in terms of production there's some good cuts here but there's a Iot of bad mixing as weII. Some horribIe Iines were thrown in here as weII. I hope this thing gets "patched" just Iike tIop.

OveraII I enjoyed some tracks here but it's not an aIbum I wiII coming back to it anytime soon.

Now I wiII Iisten to Kids See Ghosts so I ... read more

Edit: I don't think it's a 7/10, but not a 2/10 either. Has some great moments, but some unbelievably lackluster moments too.

I was originally gonna drop a one-sentence review like "I mean, what did you all expect?" But nah, I wanna talk about this thing.

Jesus Is King isn't Kanye's best album. Not at all. It has this very rushed feeling to it that I never really got from any of Kanye's other albums (I mean, just look at the cover art.) There are a lot of very cheesy lyrics here. I ... read more

Not a whole lot of words. The fact that this was the product of all the controversy that preceded it...just, is somewhat upsetting.

This is, in my eyes, in no way an awful project. It’s literally just a Kanye gospel/hip-hop record, and I think it has its highs and its lows. Overall, not bad, but in the end it’s just an okay album with an atrocious, clusterfuck of a rollout. I hope he enjoyed the attention. Usually I would have way more to say about an album, but the history before ... read more

I honestly prefer the Yandhi bootleg over this album.

First Listen Review:
Easily Kanye's worst album. The production as expected is gorgeous, the choir incorporation into the music is also great, my problem is the content matter of this record. He's talking about Jesus on every song and not in the way that I think is dope. This album comes off as an overblown gimmick. Overall this album is cool, but I highly doubt I will ever revisit most of these songs.

My first review in almost a month, ya boi been super busy :((((
And tbh, I kinda anticipated this. JIK isn't really an album, let alone a Kanye-Tier album. It's roughly a loose compilation of tracks that are too short to maintain a proper structure with no coherence whatsoever. I appreciate the direction the production and the overall theme offer, but Kanye fails to deliver consistency for an entire album, even for a 27 minute one. Bland, kinda repetitive, badly mixed as the drums on this are ... read more

Even as an atheist (and as someone who doesn’t give a shit anyways), I'm not going to force my beliefs (or lack thereof) onto you people. But right from the day it was announced, I had no hope for this and it came out worse than I thought. Never have I ever heard Kanye so constricted and so lifeless. The performances are really shitty and the vocal effects placed on him are poorly-handled. His lyrics are also at their most insipid, with too many cringe-worthy and downright questionable ... read more
