Maya Bouldry-Morrison is a Brooklyn based producer/DJ that goes by the name Octo Octa and is one of only a few artists to identify as transgender and go through their transition after already having gaining an audience. Resonant Body is the fifth album for Octo Octa and it finds her incorporating elements of IDM and break core into her intoxicating house tracks. Resinant Body is a solid House album with some fun and catchy beats and some great samples in the mix but it ultimately doesn't break much if not any new ground in the genre. However, it is still a fun album where you will be dancing along to the beat whether you hate it or love it.

Resonant Body is an extremely cathartic record, but in a way that is unrelentingly joyous. The vocal samples present could sound cheap and tacky in the wrong hands, but merged with the endlessly danceable breaks and textures of this album, they ring extremely true. "Move Your Body" bursts in as a call to arms for unhinged partying, and the repeated hook of "I know exactly how you feel" on the Goliath centrepiece of the record, "Can you See Me?" is so poignant in ... read more
