Yep. I'm on my future jazz shit. And who can blame me? This group has had a STELLER year creatively, and the fact that The Comet Is Coming have realesed not only one of the best albums of the year, but have also realesed a companion album to go along with that realese to that feels up to snuff with their previous album is genuinely mindboggiling. Two amazing records? One year? You must be shitting in my leg.

While it might not be as thrilling or mind-melting as Trust In The Lifeforce Of Deep Mystery, The Afterlife has a more relaxed and calming, yet still enthralling sound that is pretty much up to part with that previous album. Even with the more accessible and calm sound most of this album has, there are still some incredibly catchy tracks on here, and even some that live up to an absolute powerhouse like Blood Of The Past (especially All That Matters Is The Moments.) Just as I've finally learned the name of their last LP, The Comet Is Coming already released a new EP with a cover art that actually might outdo its predecessor's despite my not thinking this would even be possible. What's more is that the music veritably lives up to the hype set out with Trust in the Lifeforce of the Deep Mystery. This installment is rather mellower which complements beautifully the LP.
