It sounds as if they're pandering to the American Idiot crowd while taking influence from acts like Portugal The Man. (Oooh oooooh I'm a rebel just for kicks now.) Making Billy sound like Jack White and adding a few punchy riffs doesn't cover up their inherent laziness. A pinch of old trends and a dash of the new ones. It's going to sell, and nostalgia is forgivable, but perhaps we're a little too respectful to our elders with "Father of All".

I mean, it's punchy, it's taking risks and it's trying something new and interesting. It's pretty much the best track to come out of the 'Three Housemen of the Apocalypse' that I was expecting. It's got great energy, has punchy production and its catchy as hell. Overall, this doesn't disappoint.

The verses sound like actual dogshit tho. And what the fuck is this album cover? It looks...bad.

I'd normally say Green Day are a band that should have stopped making music years ago, but if this is what they're going to be doing now I'm all for it. It pretty much sounds like the track art too. Reminiscent of American Idiot while balancing a lot of the stylistic choices from their "messier" stuff.

Fingers crossed the rest of the album is this good.

GRAPHIC DESIGN IS MY PASSION BAYBEEEE
NICE... vocal performance baybee?

update: just realized that this kind of sounds like Nimrod x American Idiot

But out of the three new tracks from the Hella Mega Tour, this is the most underwhelming one.
Even though I'm not a big Green Day fan as of yet, this is still pretty meh (even reading the reviews here, it does sound VERY American Idiot-esque).
Though I am thankful this band hasn't gone electro-rock yet, so that's a ... read more
