It’s alright, but Kevin is very far from what he was from 2013-2015.
While I don't know that a lot of his material is more than average, Kevin Gates has quietly been one of the decade's most consistent artists, and "I'm Him" is a quality follow-up to his debut LP "Islah" several years ago. Gates's more melodic delivery stands out even more as more and more auto-crooning has emerged in the last few years, and considering he keeps the sex bars to a minimum here, the album is enjoyable overall.

As far as mixtape and album quality, this is pretty much a return to form. Is it as strong as his earlier tapes, definitely not, but better than the last 3 years worth of content.
I know this is far from a 9 but the general just hits me different
