It’s like “Surrealist Pillow” (1967) Pt. II and they only gave Slick a supportng role. Yeah, she’s still there, but the whole time it feels as if the album would have benefited from having more or her input just as their previous effort would have. The instrumentals here are also weaker with less memorable tracks which makes this album fail to make any impact.
Great record, aside from the lack of Slick-penned songs. I always prefer the JA albums in which she contributes as many songs as Kantner.
