If Ten Thousand Fists is the large tiger of Disturbed’s discography, oversized with more muscle than necessary, and Indestructible is the lean jaguar, fine-cut to just the foundation and essentials, then Asylum is the lion, king of the jungle, perfectly balanced in both core strength and added power to create the purest musical engine for emotional expression.
Global warming! Nazis! Werewolves! Disturbed pack their fifth disc Asylum with so much scary stuff it should come with a night-light.
Here we have madness, death, betrayal, grief, war and global warming all spewed forth to a churning, battering riff-fest that is impressive in its focus and ferocity ... All of which would be fine in a downbeat and, ahem, mature kind of way were it not for the distinct lack of truly memorable tunes.
Disturbed have ... done something here with Asylum that they have never done before: They have made the first album of their discography that can be truly called bad - not good, not average, just wholly bad.
Oh please no more U2.
Although that last track is NOT needed at all (it wasn't even terrible tbh) this was a "decent" album. At least for this band. I didn't really have any favorites, but as much as I heard that this band was awful, I've yet to come across an actually BAD one (besides their debut haha)

Now that i have your attention that this album surely did not have, let’s talk about Disturbed’s 2010 record Asylum. This felt SO uninspired to me, it genuinely had the potential to be on the same level as Ten Thousand Fists but nope they had to just record the same fucking song 13 times. Fuck you Davis.

This is where Disturbed starts getting very same-same with their albums. Some of their worst songs are found on this album, as well as some pretty good ones. Overall it's very good.
