This is the year of the slums
This sort of dreamy, phonographic sound in hip-hop has grown as tiresome as the "singer with a guitar" schtick in indie right now and, I'm one to think, the hip-hop community has grown comfortable with the monotony.

The sLUms movement just keeps on getting more and more interesting. I have never been so invested in a hip-hop movement before. Mavi is a fusion of Isaiah Rashad and Earl Sweatshirt, showcasing the best qualities of both artists.

What a time to be alive.
I don't know- I like it but I'm really not sure what he brings new to this sound. Haven't we heard all this already? Again, I enjoy the album but this to me is not as engaging as Slauson/MIKE. I'm not sure if that's because this just isn't as good or the novelty has worn off.
