FIRE!
Blood Incantation's latest studio album is an incredibly technical, densely cryptic, nearly-intergalactic death metal experience into the world of the unknown, a sci-fi concept that'll sure leave engaged listeners with goosebumps without having to sacrifice its alluring atmospheres, energetic instrumentation and existential undertones. Truly one of the most enthralling albums of the year!
This album may be best described as a portal transporting mankind into an alien wasteland. Ever ...

Definitely one of the most creative metal records I've heard this year, "Hidden History of the Human Race" is a technically impressive, sonically brilliant and beautifully-written set of existential death metal tracks with an enveloping sci-fi concept.

If you are a Death Metal fan, you must have heard of Blood Incantation. With their debut album "Starspawn", this Denver-based band have imposed their style with epileptic blast beats and hypnotic tapping, creating a merciless cosmic atmosphere. Tortuous, wild, and yet so epic and groovy, the band has managed to get everyone to agree in the Death Metal world. The quartet says they do "Mind Bending and Cosmic Death Metal", understand by that, ...
read moreI don't think I've found a death metal album that keeps me fully engaged like this the entire time, especially when there's an 18 minute track on it. But then again, I haven't heard much death metal. This thing is easily my favourite metal album of the year, it's creative, it's quite progressive for a death metal album, the riffs are great and the overall sound has this very sci-fi feel to it and I really love it. It just sounds otherworldly. And for a death metal album it's also quite... ...

I'm not a huge death metal guy, honestly. It gets really monotonous really quickly for me. And when I first listened to this record, I thought it was just another bland death metal record with boring riffing that all blurs together and just does nothing for me. But after just several listens this record has really clicked with me. This thing RULES. It is one overwhelming death metal riff after another, all coming together into a masterfully arranged experience. All of the ...
read moreOn a site where most of the users only focus on hip-hop and pop, it's really cool to see a death metal album being one of the most popular of the month and even make it into the best albums of the year tab. Too bad the love for this record seems to be completely overblown.
So, this new Blood Incantation album is great. It's freakin' amazing at times! This is a definite contender for death metal album of the year for me, really only being beaten out by that Fuming Mouth record that came out ...

Aliens are dope as fuck aren’t they? I love you small, strange, green little dudes. On a side note, this could possibly be my metal album of 2019. Fucking otherworldly experience.
Good
The super-compact, unrelenting, and dense sound of this record makes me feel like I'm trapped inside a dark, secluded space pod, constantly being pestered and annoyed by the aliens surrounding me (or the voices in my head).

Hey guys; this isn't an actual review, but I can't post any sort of traditional status update via AOTY, and I don't have a Twitter people can follow right now, so I have post this via review. Whether you follow me or not, I would still say give this a read.
I've thought about it, and I'm gonna try to migrate to Rate Your Music for a little bit. I find that I could do a lot more with my user experience there than I could do here. If it works out well (which I think it will), I'll move there ...

THAT BEAUTIFUL COVER ART THO!!!!
wow space death metal with lyrics dealing with loneliness, death, terror and ufo? pretty creative! and this blend of genres packed in a short running time are attractives for everyone to hear this one
Denver outfit, Blood Incantation return to the limelight with an incredibly dense and technical death metal record! This record is a somewhat standard interpretation of the genre, with many of the riffs following suit of that classic death metal style we all know and love. The lacings of prog influence throughout the record also give the listener a more flavorful experience than a typical run-of-the-mill death metal album would. Another thing that sets this record apart from its contemporaries ...
read moreWoah. Easily one of the best death metal albums I've heard this year, and maybe even this decade. This thing is packed with emotions. It has some cool sci-fi themes that make it an even more interesting experience. It is a progressive death metal album, which is sometimes a red flag, because there are some progressive metal albums that tend to be a little too sterile and overly technical without much flavor. Not all prog metal is like this, and I love a lot of prog metal, but there’s ...
read moreIt's a passible metal album, but that's pretty much how I feel about death metal in particular anyway. I appreciate it, but the uber-technical and incessantly groovy styles of this subgenre is not for me. I thought the massive hype surrounding this album would mean it was inherently different from other albums in the same vein, but despite the alien on the front cover, nothing about Hidden History... pushes Blood Incantation above the rest, for me personally. I do appreciate its brevity though, ...

i can’t get into death metal, help me!
Despite its relatively short 36-minute runtime, like most Death Metal records, it manages to accomplish more than an overwhelming majority of others. Hidden History of the Human Race is a virtuous feat of musician in itself, but its best quality by far is how varied the four songs of the album are. The album is not afraid to hammer the listener with chugging guitars and blast beats and constantly changing rhythms, and then take a 1 minute breakdown to relax a bit, before getting back into the ...

Ending 2019 with one of the best metal projects in recent memory. A glorified trip of technicality and doom, Blood Incantation teach us the proper hidden history of the human race.
This was honestly the Metal, not just Death Metal, but Metal album I needed this year. It's quite rare for a sub-genre like Death Metal to truly keep me engaged for a long time due to how sonically repetitive it begins to sound. However, this band's use of incrediblely dynamic and heavy riffs, crazy smooth transitions and arguably a bit of ambient drones and far more progressive approach to overall sonic direction, they've really created a damn near perfect album.
This is so immersive which ...
read moreAll around crazy and great experience. I’ve never been huge on Death Metal in particular, but I love metal. This record is making me want to listen to much more of this genre, perhaps classics 🤔. Also a tip, don’t listen to this while playing a rage inducing video game because I almost threw my controller.
One of the more creative death metal releases of the year. At first listen, it may not seem all that unique, and may just seem like your stereotypical death metal album, maybe a 90s Cannibal Corpse type album. Blood Incantation however, continues to be atmospheric, very progressive, while still delivering extremely heavy riffs and the classic rough death metal production. What really separates the band from similar acts is the psychedelic, sci-fi themed approach to the genre. The album is 40 ...
read moreThere is no doubt that this is heavy as hell and some of these riffs are absolutely fantastic, but some of the spacey parts of these songs only serve to make it feel kind of empty, especially on the last track, which is 18 minutes long. There’s only 3 other songs, just chop the fucker into two or three songs. Whatever.
Still, the noise is dense and some of this shit is chunky as hell. There’s a lot to love, but I feel like maybe this needed a little something more.
Solid, considering I usually don't find much death metal that's listenable for myself. The first track seemed a bit standard, but The Giza Power Plant really grabbed me. Very much enjoyed the Egyptian flair. Inner Paths seems to be there to cleanse your palate and set you up for the sprawling closer. The final track does sound really cool, but as casual metal guy I really can't see myself returning to an eighteen-minute endeavor in this style. I have to admit, I was a little disappointed ...

I'm not a particularly big death metal fan. Like at all. So when I saw all the overwhelming praise for this project I sorta assumed that it would radically change my view of the genre or blow my socks off or something.
Yeah, I was wrong. Still a pretty spicy album tho, at the very least it didn't make me want to end it after the first track and somehow kept me engaged throughout an 18 minute long track. Personally I don't think it's anything too super, but I'm giving it a pass for the sheer ...

Brutal, raw, and very heavy. There is no denying that there are complex intricacies throughout the record, but it is hard to appreciate these intricacies when the production is simultaneously trying to blow your face off. Besides the neat alien Armageddon theme, there is not much making want to ever come back to it.

I feel pretty confident after one listen that this album is probably gonna be my album of the year. It's quite rare for something to reach up to a 9 on my ratings, and even rarer for something to instantly become a 9; but I feel very confident in this. This album is something special; and I am glad that its weird charm is actually getting quite a bit of attention. In a decade where this type of weird death metal has maintained rather underground and completely unknown; here is hoping that Blood ...

This album was an extraordinary. I have never listening to death metal in my life really, so had no proper idea what I was getting myself into, but man I'm so glad I decided to check it out. One of the best things about the album is that it's not boring: there are tons of really exciting riffs and aggressive percussion that you can enjoy. It's really manic, but it has just the right amount of restraint to keep it from going off the rails, with some really interesting production choices in the ...
