The Shape of K-pop to Come.

Lim Kim, the M.I.A. of the K-Pop scene, officially returns with the powerful, boastful and epic: "Generasian". Lim Kim fuses traditional Korean music with the experimental and eclectic beats of the deconstructed club. I think this EP does what it’s trying to do well but I’m personally just not a big fan of it. Digital Khan is a banger though. Very strong M.I.A. Influence on here.

As she tries her hand in experimental rap, Trip/Hop, noise pop, she crafts a fantastic set of multi-layered political bangers exploring & playing with different stereotypes of what western folk consider "Oriental" or "Asian" music. With such thought put into such an a short EP, I can tell that she's no longer interested in riding the traditional ... read more
