Super fun interesting story incoming, so a few years ago I was browsing the Pennsylvania tag on Bandcamp to find local bands right? I stumbled upon The Innocence Mission's Bandcamp page, thought nothing of it, and kept browsing. This is an incredibly engrossing album. Upon the first few lines that are sung with fragility on the opener one will be able to sympathise with this; the lead Karen Peris has a very unique sound that reminds me of Newsom somewhat. The instrumentation here is crystal clear and barebones, which only adds to the caressing but simultaneously delicate soundscape present. Lovely record!

Not familiar with the band's discog but this is such a lovely folk album. Really clean and simple production, gorgeous arresting vocals and pretty melodies makes this nice and relaxing to listen to.
Faves: We Don't Know How to Say Why, John as Well, Mary Margaret in Mid-Air

Most of this basically went in one ear and out the other, especially during my 2nd listen. This thing was 11 tracks, all of which sounded pretty alright and had vocals which were performed solidly so it didn't feel like an awful listen. However, what killed this was just how samey everything was and how devoid of anything interesting the lyrical content was (with the exception of "Stars That Fall Away from Us", easily my album highlight), which just made for a ... read more
