Let's review something that's within my comfort-zone again, in other words a review of 'Industry Plant' by Iann Dior.

If I'm honest, Iann Dior has a lot of potential. Even though this record is pretty bland, generic, and boring most of the time, the performances by Iann Dior are pretty well-done. Industry Plant is not the worst thing I’ve heard all year, but it’s certainly not the best. It’s decent, and there are some highlights, but as a whole it just ends up being pretty generic. It’s ok when it’s on but it’s not something I’m going to actively play. It sort of fades into the background, which I guess isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The production is nice, the hooks are ok. With a tracklist and runtime nearly twice the length of his debut mixtape, Iann Dior does nominally worse on the longer format of his debut album.

One major cause of that is the album taking a few songs to truly become interesting. At first, it opens with “Darkside”, which has the Travis Barker feature that seems to be mandatory for new emo rappers this year, but also a pretty generic guitar riff over which Iann boringly sings an ineffectual chorus.
