god i loved this! first of all blah blah blah indie rock, blah blah over-saturated, blah blah blah boring blah i dont care. great female-led indie rock is my crack, i just cant get enough of it. sure there's a fair bit of uninspired and uninteresting indie rock getting released, but that's with all genres, and when some fantastic indie rock like Honeymoon rises up, it's just fucking addicting to me.

the debut album from Beach Bunny, Honeymoon is a tight, 25 minute burst of love in the modern ... read more

Beach Bunny, an act I’ve had my eye on for about a year now I’d say, decided to drop their debut on Valentine’s day. While in all honesty it’s rather predictable and tame, it’s pretty cute and inoffensive. The vocals and instrumentals are enough to induce a smile here and there and arguably, Beach Bunny know how to put a song together quite well.

The only real weaknesses the album suffers from in my eyes is there isn’t a wide range of topics mentioned or a ... read more

Beach Bunny simps to a random guy for 25 minutes. No but seriously, the word "love" is said 41 times. I started to get a bad feeling around the 3rd track because I noticed a reoccurring theme: every single song is about not being good enough for this almighty love interest of hers. The vocals honestly aren't that bad if the songwriting was more varied. The instrumentation was okay I guess just sort of bland and predictable. Idk this just didn't really do anything for me.

Honeymoon is in the continuity of its predecessor, and even if I think it doesn't do better, it has the merit of not doing less well. Their greatest strength, which is also one of their greatest limitations, is their sincere naivety, which both gives their songs that charm and also prevents them from making an album that stands out from the crowd.

In any case, it's just in time for Valentine's Day because it is concretely in the theme as much lyrically as musically. Although I too often have ... read more

I've come to terms with the fact that this style of music lands with me every single time, without fail. This isn't to detract from the quality of Beach Bunny on their debut record Honeymoon, it merely meant that if Beach Bunny was going to be making this style of music then I was going to latch on.

Beach Bunny is largely singer Lili Trifilio, the singer who fronts the act. Prior to 2017 she had two years of songwriting under her belt before the project became a full band. With multiple EP ... read more

Nothing really blew me away on this. It is quite pleasant, but the vocals, instrumentation, and lyrics are all tropes I’ve been jammin to for over a year now. The peak of this sound has already passed. We’ll see if Beach Bunny can take it in a new direction next time. For now, this is nothing new but still pretty chill.

I don't care how unoriginal this sound is, this is great.

Beach Bunny is a Chicago-based band that makes the kind of pop-punk influenced indie music that VIBES. This is hardcore vibing music. Like this is car-windows down, wind-in-your-face kind of music. They sorta play it safe here, but their sound doesn't ask for them to write a rock opera. It's just meant for simple, relatable love songs.

Also, the fact that it's only 25 minutes makes Honeymoon a super digestible project, almost perfect ... read more

I'm usually the first one to critique the wave of uninspired female-led indie rock that's flooding the internet currently, but I found myself enjoying this quite a bit. It's nothing new, but Beach Bunny isn't here to change everything you know about music, they're just here to have a good time... and they succeed at that with flying colors. This is just a stupid fun album with some awesome vocals and a ton of indie pop bangers- Ms California may be one of my favorite songs of the year so far. I ... read more

Summer Vibes

I really enjoyed this! Some songs got me in my feelings, others had me wanting to dance around and jam out. I don't know what it was, but this project was just very enjoyable. It is like Indie pop and Indie rock fused. Gives me Paramore vibes in a way. I really love the lead singer's vocals though, they go perfectly with the production. Female lead singers in indie rock and pop are my favorite.

There were no bad songs on this, just some I didn't enjoy as much as the others. ... read more

The length of this album is PERFECT. Short, simple, and just an overall fun album!

Beach Bunny is such a pleasure. As many times as this small, flowery, yet punchy pop rock band continues to riff and sing about breakups and love and high school, they will never fail to impress with how damn catchy and heart-tugging their music can be. So how is their first full-length album? Allow me to take a look.

From every angle, Honeymoon is a Beach Bunny album. If you've heard Prom Queen, then Honeymoon is more of that. Only around 10 minutes more, but still more. And no matter how you ... read more

You know all those feelings you have as a teenager that you just can't express through words? Honeymoon is like all those feelings getting the voice they've been needing. It covers the usual aspects of love, loneliness, dreams, etc., but lead singer Lili Trifilio's voice and writing ring true. Her emotions are pretty raw and very millennial, like wanting to be the girl in someone's Instagram photos on "Ms. California". It's all very similar thematically to the work of indie compatriot ... read more

I mean it is solid but Beach Bunny is quite late to the party with this sound and brings nothing new to this cute inoffensive sound and that is ultimately the downfall of this album, it is too little too late but it is a solid effort and I hope Beach Bunny develop their sound in the future.

A very strong debut, Beach Bunny offers a batch of catchy, well-written indie-pop/rock songs about romantic struggles.

Since Beach Bunny showed up in my discover weekly I have been waiting excitedly for this LP, and it delivered. I got more teen angst heartbreak than I bargained for (that surprisingly hit me deep) and all with Lili's hypnotic voice still entrancing listeners. The production is solid, but just sloppy enough to give it that indie , amateurish charm. The only gripe is that its a quick listen and I wanted more tracks to flesh out my image of the band more.

This was actually really good! Super promising debut album here! Vocals sound kinda like that whole indie "ukulele girl voice" but like done really well and not completely toothless lol. Actually that's underselling it, these folks have teeth to spare! Honestly my biggest complaint is that on the album art, the girl's ankles/socks are way skinnier than the rest of her legs... Beach Bunny is a band to look out for!

What a wonderful powerful, emotional, empathetic album. Beach Bunny is now a real huge band, I hope sales and touring can prove that.

When you consider the fact that Lili was getting modest traction from her other songs/ EP going into this record, it is pretty amazing that she A) didn't just load the album with tracks from 2 years ago like many bands would do, and B) it came out this well. Don't get me wrong, it isn't fine art or anything, it's a love album. But I sort of admire its knowledge of that, with all the pros and cons.

One of the better releases this year thus far...

There really isn't much to say about this record its just good...like really good.
Amazing riffs, soaring melodies, infectious choruses and solid production.

The only drawback is that 'Honeymoon' doesn't really bring anything up new to the table and the lead vocalist isn't all that compelling.
Don't get me wrong they are competent lyrically...sometimes great but its not anything i haven't heard before, but when its this good...its clear to see ... read more

Break up albums tend to always work out fine. Honeymoon is a teen's side story about a break up constructed through indie pop/rock chords and tunes. Late 10s/ early 20s indie pop is the same as early 00s pop punk was for teenagers, years ago. Not not necessarily a bad album, but neither an album that stands out. A bit of more provocative ideas like the end of April where an efusive band strikes the same chords over and over would have given a better charisma to this LP.

Mixed feelings to ... read more

Sonically, the record can fault here or there, but there are plenty of highlights on this charismatic rock record.

Favorite Tracks: Promises, Cuffing Season, Ms. California, Colorblind, Dream Boy, Cloud 9

Least Favorite Track: Racetrack (nothing more than a short piano ballad, still not bad though)

I'm really into Beach Bunny's old singles and EP's, especially; Prom Queen, Sports, Painkiller, Boys, & February. So, I was very excited for this album. I really enjoyed this album, but I feel it's far from the best album Beach Bunny are capable of making. It felt like power-pop without enough power. Beach Bunny is a band that tours with a lot of bands in the emo/pop-punk scene (PUP, Prince Daddy & The Hyena). You'll find mosh pits at their live shows. This album felt like it ... read more

Garage pop-punk outfit puts together a fantastic collection of smile-along confections that are more intelligent and interesting than expected.

Beach Bunny as a unit have a terrific sense of how to put together a song. It’s simple, poppy garage punk, but it’s done about as well as it can be. Everyone has a keen sense of tempo, crescendo, timing, and hooks, and of how to put them together in the catchiest way possible. Lili Trifilio’s voice has the timbre, honesty, and ... read more

I loved the singles, since the album was so short I was expecting every song to blow my socks off. 2 of the tracks fell a little flat to me but everything else is a banger. Was also hoping for it to be a tad longer but really solid.
