On his first solo full-length, he sounds stern but forgiving, his buttery flow gliding atop dampened soul samples.

Am I the only one who feels like this genre has a bit of false immunity from criticism for some reason? I think the movement is definitely cool, but I just don't see anything special about this album. Some tracks are great and have that really pained atmosphere that I like about this genre, but a good bit of this record falls very flat for me. Medhane isn't really very distinct as a rapper and doesn't do a whole lot to keep me engaged.

Medhane's debut was by no means bad, but looking back this album is missing out from the production front. Medhane himself has some great flows and he sounds great, but a lot of the beats feel a little empty, particularly with the drums. Medhane's delivery can feel a kinda sluggish, but it doesn't prevent "Own Pace" from becoming yet another great addition to an amazing hip hop movement. I also feel like the production is a lot cleaner? I mean, the loops are so smooth and the samples are so crisp that I kinda feel that way about this album compared to others in the scene.

This Earl Sweatshirt clone is good but definitely not great. I liked the production ideas throughout but the flows just fall flat. Still had some great moments
