Speak Now is a well-earned tiara atop of Taylor Swift’s blonde tresses, an album that deserves to sell zillions of records. As it no doubt will.
Speak‘s 14 tracks are perfectly contained snow globes of romance and catharsis, whole cinematic narratives rendered in four-to six-minute miniatures.
She may be not a girl, and not yet a woman, but on Speak Now she captures that transition with a personal grace and skill that few singer/songwriters have.
All of Speak Now engages in that act of making our story hers, and her story ours, which is what pop stars do well.
Swift has seen the world that comes with superstardom, and for all those who complained that Fearless was a one-dimensional teenage love affair, Speak Now takes that experience and wallops the critics with it.
Swift’s third album, Speak Now, is roughly twice as good as 2008’s Fearless, which was roughly twice as good as her 2006 debut.
Speak Now is a conscious attempt to move beyond those childish things while retaining her balance of maturity and relatability.
On Speak Now, Swift is strongest when she lets her country roots shine through.
Speak Now is Taylor Swift’s best record yet, all in her voice with no co-writers. It’s a powerful statement from someone who has proven that she knows who she is, and, whether Nashville likes it or not, is here to stay.
Speak Now falters whenever Swift lets her outsized personality be subsumed by big, generic ballads.
Speak Now is an album of expertly crafted pop music that actually justifies at least some of the critical hyperbole and commercial clout that have characterized the last two years of Swift’s career.

Not going to lie, the chord progression on "Haunted" sounds like Coldplay's "The Scientist" 👀.
"Speak Now" represents Taylor Swift's creativity, as she holds the sole songwriting credit for each song to prove her talent to critics. Many of these album's tracks are catchy with autobiographical lyrics that can be pertinent to any listener's life, such as "The Story of Us" which is about the painful awkwardness of inadvertently encountering an ex-lover ... read more
ao invés de crescer em mim ao longo do tempo o som desse album pra mim foi ficando maçante e desinteressante mas por outro lado tem boas composições, aguardando uma versão melhor disso.
Speak now is a blend of pop, rock and even some punky elements (see better then revenge). And i must admit its amazing i love how taylor did this album, her first album written completelt by herself and her first real album away from country, i am a massive fan of speak now. Its an amazing album, one of her best
I expected to like it but not this much. The songs I never heard of before such as "Last Kiss" has simply been on repeat. Long Live is such an amazing closure since it feels like the entire album is wrapped into one song. Since I joined late into seriously listening to Taylor, I think that I will like her voice now more than her voice here, HOWEVER, keep that same attitude and emotion. The way Taylor sings the first "away" in "Last Kiss" is so heartbreaking and ... read more
