The twee indie pop sound has been done to death by now, but Matt Maltese does it so well that it feels like a fresh take on the genre. The engaging relatable lyrics, soft instrumentation and vibrant melodies make this one to remember. It’s like a cross between the divine comedy and jens lekman.

Matt Maltese depicts emotion in well-crafted, unique ballads. The comedic juxtaposed lyrics are genius. The personal home made production feel makes this really a one of a kind album.

This second albums sees Matt heading towards an easy listening style closer to romantic pastiche - it shares a similar camp 'raised eyebrow'/'emotionally detached narrator' silky smooth delivery to the Aluminum Group.

When he hits on a winning tune ('Curl Up & Die', 'Tall Buildings') this switch in approach seems like a masterstroke. Alas, there are also a few 'just average' songs that make you question that judgement.
