I mean, it is just so forgettable and boring and am I the only one who things the mixing is poor.

The fact that this album has a higher score than the country record Miley Cyrus released a few years ago is a clear sign that The Black Lips actually managed to dodge a bullet on this one. Man, this thing sucks, why did they even agree to release it? I mean, the opening track is not that bad, but the rest? This thing is borderline trash.

Dan Auerbach, Jake Bugg, Jack White, Kesha, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, and even Justin fucking Timberlake managed to release better country infused records ... read more

Black Lips new project is a raggedy country album, which consistently tightropes in between a rollocking stormer and comic absurdity. Despite its flaws, is a lot of fun. The album is at its best when they combine classic rock with country music to make great anthems such as Rumbler and Gentlemen. Barn yard stompers like Holding Me Holding You and Georgia may seem jarring at first listen, but there is a sincerity which endears the listener. LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: Gentleman

Yeah this is unlistenable. I've never been that familiar with The Black Lips besides Good Bad Not Evil (because of Scott Pilgrim) but this is bad. I can't listen through it in one sitting. It's annoying, it's poorly mixed, awful vocals and even worse instrumentals. On songs like Angola Rodeo, I know they're aiming to do like a 60s blues song which is good in theory but just awful on that track. In fact, on this whole thing, they just try ... read more
