Although, I presonally, wouldn't put Sorcerer near the top of my personal favorite Miles Davis' records, it is still a nice collection of mellow and mysterious modal jazz and with Wayne Shorter on the saxophone there is a lot of interesting composition to absorb but yet i find myself returning to this album a lot less than Sketches of Spain, Kind of Blue or In a Silent Way.

Yeah, this is probably going to be my biggest unpopular opinion when it comes to Miles Davis. I like this album and actually think the performances are solid, but the songs themselves can be pretty fucking boring at times.

I was honestly really hoping to love Sorcerer. I mean, I had absolutely no reason going into it to think that this wouldn't be yet another strong outing from Miles' Second Great Quintet. In fact, from what I've read, this is often seen as being stronger than E.S.P. and on ... read more

AN UNDERRATED GEM OF A MASTERPIECE!!!

Miles Davis’ 3rd collaboration with his second quintet “Sorcerer” is an absolute powerhouse filled with the most exuberance and passion that I’ve ever heard in a Davis Record!

Everything from percussion to the sax to the piano to the trumpet is infinitely bettered by a mix of emotional and peaceful tracks to amazing, ferocious tunes filled with wails and cries from all these instruments.

Emotional tracks like Vonetta are built ... read more

Honestly similar in feel to Miles Smiles but still different enough to distinguish itself.

This is a pretty cool project from miles and I enjoyed it a lot. He continues his streak of pretty solid/great albums with sorcerer

I have the same problem with this as I do with the previous 3 Miles Davis's, where I respect the experimentation however I find it a little too odd, but also at the same time, too samey. I can acknowledge that this is good music. However, this album doesn't really have an individual identity except for Nothing Like You, that song I will always associate with this album but not in a good way.
