God, I hope this doesn't get lost in the absolutely massive sea of bots.

What an absolute hypocritical trash can. Listen, I'm aware that Selena has gone through an incredibly difficult time, and I definitely feel for that. Plus, she seems like a genuinely sweet and down to earth person in interviews. But god, this album makes zero sense. 75% of the tracks are her talking about how she's not going to let anyone walk all over her and learn from her mistakes. And then, the other 25% is her ... read more

It's not bad, but sure it could have been a lot better. Lose You To Love me should have been the closing track and A Sweeter Place the opening one. Other than that, the first half is considerably more consistent and entertaining compared to the second half. Lyrically it's not out of this world but it's her most personal album to date

Was NOT Expecting This.

This album is GOOD. Going into this I was expecting it to be better than usual Selena but not THIS much better. Almost EVERY song on here is a bop besides a couple tracks. This is the definition of what a call FUN pop music. Let me tell y'all about RING. If you are a dude and want to feel like a bad bitch. That song is for you. And the outro track with Cudi. JESUS it's so soothing and SO good. Selena really showed that she isn't just a generic pop artist on this record. ... read more

Edit: I originally gave this a 0 to troll the 250+ bots that rated this album and...it worked. Anyways...

So I actually listened to this album. I’d fuck with about 3 songs on here. Some of the beats are sweet but there are a couple that are pretty grimy and bombastic. There’s only one truly terrible song on the album, Look at Her Now. Other than that, this album is anything but rare. This sound isn’t fresh anymore, which isn’t a bad thing, except I have heard a ... read more

GREAT!

I only came for Cudi... but then I realized the rest of the record is pretty heat!

Selena Gomez, for those who are living under a rock... used to be your everyday teenage witch and had gone by "Alex Russo". She lived happily with her two parents and her siblings, and they would often catch up on mischief and go on wacky adventures all the time.

Until one day Disney decided that they should go ahead and have their own full-length film called "Wizards of Waverly Place ... read more

"Rare" is a forgettable album at best and an annoying one at its worst. It has a few decent cuts here and there, but Selena does nothing to make this stand out from a lot of other cookie-cutter pop albums that have come out the last few years.

I'm generally quite optimistic when it comes modern mainstream pop, perhaps more so than I should be
I tend to be disappointed a lot more than I am pleasantly surprised and this is seriously a disappointment. I seen some decent reviews for this thing and I had some hope for this to be decent. It's not. It is one of the worst things I've heard in a while. It's hard for me to be overly critical of modern pop as it just seems like a low blow for me, it's obviously not supposed to be anything ... read more

Selena has never been one of my favorite artists and is not yet, but she is one of the artists who is part of a show that has been giving us music without content for years (Cardi B / Weekdn / Ariana / Bieber / One Direction / Miley Cirus, etc, etc., etc.) This girl on this album has undoubtedly shown that she has learned from great pop artists, that she has been able to take risks and mature in her music, at least this album has excellent songs and impeccable production, and it is something ... read more

The best part about this album is that someone on this site tagged it "closed on sunday you my chick fil a"

KID CUDI, YOU ARE ABOVE THIS. come on man.

I guess some of the songs are kinda catchy and boppy? but like, it's mostly just boring.

FAVORITE SONGS: N/A

LEAST FAVORITE SONGS: how can i pick my least favorite songs out of these 13?

I didn’t know we were getting a new Taylor Swift album!

All jokes aside, there’s actually a couple decent songs on this but for the most part it’s just your run-of-the-mill faceless and obscurely romantic pop music. Nothing actually feels genuine or personal, it feels manufactured and that’s because it is.

Well this was overall a fun album! I really really enjoyed about 4-5 tracks off this record and those ones I will definitely revisit. The last track with Cudi was definitely my favorite followed by Rare, Ring, and Lose you to love me. Some songs felt kind of Birmingham and repetitive but the other tracks made up for the album. Overall I’m glad I listened to this record and I would give it a shot. Most of the tracks were mid- good so you can’t go wrong with this one!

Selena has evolved her sound after a long time without releasing a new album, 'Rare' have the vulnerability on the lyrics and the power in the productions, her voice sounds much more confident than usual, she opens her heart to show her true self and honestly I think it's amazing.

Okay

Selena Gomez's new album "Rare" isn't necessarily bad or insulting in any way, bit is so contrived in a boring, non-innovative, and indifferent manner. She doesn't create a name nor sound for herself on here, and there's nothing to take away from it except some good pop tunes here and there.

Selena Gomez releases the first major pop album of 2020 with her third solo effort, Rare. While I can’t say I was ever a big fan of Selena’s music (I felt her musical peers were making much more interesting music), her 2017 single “Bad Liar” did pique my interest for a moment. With its minimal instrumental, references to the Battle of Troy and sample of the bassline from Talking Heads’ “Psycho Killer”, I had to believe that Selena was starting to show ... read more

I love Selena Gomez, don’t get me wrong, she’s an important part of my childhood and she’s part of why I’m bilingual today. However, with the years, I found myself gravitating away from her music, or at least some of it. I unfortunately will probably be doing the same with this album. It felt very simple which is sometimes her strong suit, but I didn't appreciate it much. Her music has mostly been that, quite simple yet with a fun beat It’s not bad, but it’s ... read more

Begone bots!

Why did I bother listening to this lol. I at least got a good laugh out of the terrible Kid Cudi performance on the outro. Other than that it’s just by the numbers, uninspired pop music.

Destaco: "Lose You to Love Me"

Selena & her team make 13 attempts at achieving billboard and chart success. Every song is painfully predictable. Over compressed and pretty much every pop cliche is here. There is still a skeleton of promise in here. Some of the lyrical themes were respectable and there were a few good melodies here and there. This record really dips in quality in the last leg. Favorite tracks: Lose you to love me, ring, people you know, crowded room

This seems like a bunch of scrapped tracks from her album "Revival". Even not thinking none of the songs is THAT awful, they are so bland, not exceting and monotous. Her singing is so lifeless on here too... fails to transmit the emotion that she claims on the album, endind up even boring me. The track order of the first 4 songs don't go along too well for me too. At the end, this album sounds totally forgettable.

"Selena’s new album is interesting because, while it seems that Gomez has deepened a single subject, it seems that she has saturated that same subject. As said, Selena could have done a lot more with this album, have brought a range of subjects, but preferred something that showed that she is on top. However, it doesn’t mean that the tracks are bad, to be honest, most are nice to hear, but, looking from a more critical side, Selena has a long way to go. The tracks, in general, ... read more

This new release from Selena Gomez explores many of her personal struggles, however fails to do so in an impactful manner.

Selena Gomez is an artist whom I have never had any real attachment to, in fact I have for the most part always seen her as one of the weakest amongst her contemporaries. While I generally am not a fan of music from the likes of Ariana Grande or Miley Cyrus, I have often been able to recognise some degree of talent or ambition in the projects they release. Rare ended up being a really respectable outing for Selena Gomez. Her music has always lacked personality, but the more low key and subtly funky (at times) nature of this record works a lot for her. This isn't the most unique project out there, but she has found a lane that she operates in better. It's a lot more catchy than I expected, too. Not bad!

Album is about as generic as it gets in pop music. Some points I even found unlistenable. One positive takeaway is that it may make good background music if you want something that offers absolutely no entertainment whatsoever.

This album is just pretty boring and is probably the most generic and bland pop album I've heard in a while. If you didn't tell me who this was I probably couldn't guess that it was Selena Gomez. She isn't a very good singer, the songwriting is extremely basic and has no character, and after listening to this a few times I still don't feel anything (and this album tries to have emotional moments). There are some good highlights, but there are also some absolutely terrible songs on here too. If ... read more

Selena openly describes herself as "Rare" on an album that is the complete opposite: bland, forgettable and average.

"Lose You To Love Me" never really clicked with me. It's not a bad song, just not what I think works best for Selena (as she well proved at the 2019 AMAs), and overall a weak choice for such an anticipated comeback (yet the GP seemed to like it, which to an extent, is understandable). "Look At Her Now" felt like a more coherent lead single to me, ... read more

Back to work. After almost a desert month without releases, this is the first album of the year. We start from "Bad Liar" to "Look At Her Now." When "Bad Liar" was released it was a very different sound for Selena, I liked it because it was not a very simple and generic pop, in it it was something innovative in its sound, the same with "Fetish", those 2 songs were for me her highest point of creativity, I think The Weeknd helped her a lot to find that ... read more

Rare will become her most polarized record not doubt. Here, Gomez faces her demons, open up her heart unveiling the cover she had been living underneath for so long with a sophisticated manner to make pop at this point. But, where will be delimited the line between the personal side of her heart and some random and average record about find yourself again? Well, at least she is happy and apparentely ready to move on.

A produção está fantástica e "evoluiu" bastante do Revival pra cá, amo que a Selena está sempre se encontrando um pouquinho, as letras continuam lindas e sinceras e os vocais estão na medida certa também. Espero total aclamação e reconhecimento pra lenda.
