Bush seems content now to dress her songs in simpler – though still occasionally antic – colors. The result is offbeat pop that refines but doesn't sacrifice her signal eccentricity.

It doesn’t rank among Bush’s finest—it sounds more prototypically ’80s than some of the records she actually released that decade, marked by big snares and a brittle sound that a recent remaster can’t properly remedy. It’s an outlier, but hardly a disaster. The Red Shoes finds an effortless perfectionist pushing very hard to locate her next great idea.

If not her strongest work -- a number of songs sound okay without being particularly stellar, especially given Bush's past heights -- Red Shoes is still an enjoyable listen with a number of diversions.

Inspirado no filme com o mesmo nome, "The Red Shoes" é o sétimo álbum de estúdio da cantora Kate Bush, e o único lançado durante a década de 90.
Começa bem com "Rubberband Girl" e vai seguindo numa linha de músicas boas como "Moments Of Pleasure", "The Song Of Solomon", "Top Of The City" e "Constelation Of The Heart" que se destacam mais no álbum.

With the turn of the 90's, Kate Bush adapts to the new upcoming sound and incorporates it into her style for The Red Shoes and with a strong 80's career of imaginative, innovative and thoughtful albums, The Red Shoes feels often the complete opposite. It is predictable and safe in its sound. I admire how personal and vulnerable Kate Bush is on this record and it saves the record in a sense but I can't deny that this album is one of her weakest projects and simply wasn't focused or thought out ... read more

controversial opinion, but I feel that Kat took the greatest joy in creating music here and appreciated the album a lot, as evidenced by the large amount of songs on her live album Before the Dawn.

it is also one of the coolest albums of all time, but the critics did not dare to judge the album better.

Who has healthy senses to judge this album badly when there are Lily, Top of the City, Eat The Music and the lovely Constellation of the heart? Bad score of AllMusic is a not funny joke

There's so much heart in here but the execution is missing a little

After her amazing run of albums in the 80's, all of which sounded amazing and were produced impeccably, Kate decides to be accompanied by some of the loudest and most overblown instrumentals of her career. Now overall, this album is still decent, and there are some great tracks like Rubberband Girl, Moments Of Pleasure, The Song Of Solomon, and Why Should I Love You, but the sound and instrumentals definitely could have been better here. The loud eighties style drums are a bit much, and work ... read more
