ruining yall day
Alright fuck it bro, someone asked for a review so here we go. E is a very very unique album I'll definitely give it that, if anything could clearly describe the genre "cloud rap" I'd point to this because it takes everything from the genre and amplifies it to an impressive degree. Sadly this isn't for me at all and this is evident because my favourite thing about this whole project was easily the ambient like dreamy instrumental, made me think I'd probably enjoy E ...
read morethis is my fifth ten out of ten i've given this year and easily my most confident ten. like, legit, maybe the best album of the decade by no exaggeration.
edit i heard someone say ecco cant use the n word because he's swedish and i think i've finally built the confidence to embrace the rope
What I liked the most about "E" is its ethereal ambient production, which is some pretty solid stuff that complements the lyrics pretty well. There are also some low-key bangers on this project like "Peroxide" and "Time". Unfortunately, some of these ideas are are horribly executed and these vocals are just awful. One point he's sounding like a male, effects-heavy version of Imogen Heap and the next he just... doesn't sound that good.

read moreThe most enigmatic member of the Drain Gang collective, ECCO2K, has surprise dropped a long-hoped for solo project. With no features from his usual colleagues, ℮ is a rare, personal look inside the strange, androgynous figure that has graced so many DG songs. However, something just feels missing from the project. ECCO's vocals take centre stage on every track here, and where Bladee would often let the instrumental take up more space in the mix, the songs on ℮ are minimal and light, save ...
read moreWorth the wait. For years, ECCO2K has been considered to have the most potential in Drain Gang, an artistic collective that includes himself, Bladee, Thaiboy Digital, Whitearmor, and Yung Sherman. But during the six years ECCO2K has been a member, he is only now dropping his first official solo album. Before now, he has had 20 singles, collaborated with Bladee and Thaiboy Digital on 2 albums, and been featured in a number of tracks. Though the collaborative albums with Bladee and Thaiboy have ...
read moreI guess I can definitely respect the style Ecco2k's going for. The ambient and cloudy production sounds really great, and is easily the best part of this album. There are of course some fun moments on here. My real problem just lays with Ecco2k's voice, as most of the time it's my least favourite part of the album. Plus some of the songs don't have anything that make me want to come back to them. Apart from that, I suppose I did like this more than anything.

read moreDecided to go out of my comfort zone and try something more new and unique. I’m leaving this album happy I listened to it but disappointed at the same time. The beginning was amazing, the middle was mid asf, the ending was pretty good as well.
best tracks : peroxide, aaa powerline, time
worst tracks : sugar & diesel, cc, calcium
E gang. This album sounded like an ambient album if it had Ecco2k vocals on it.
Favorite songs; AAA Powerline, Sugar & Diesel
Least favorite; Security! (Still good)
Great
I fucks wit it. The icy production, animatronic approach, and isolated vocals make for an almost unnerving and definitely unorthodox experience. The blend of genres here is impeccable.
Color: Blue
FAV TRACKS: AAA Powerline, Calcium, Fragile, Time, Peroxide, Security!, Fruit Bleed Juice
LEAST FAV: Cc, Blue Eyes, Sugar & Diesel
I'd just like to preface this by saying I'm not a huge Drain Gang fan. I'm not even close to one, I've listened to Icedancer and some Bladee singles and that's it. But wow, this just gave me nothing. It's as ambient as cloud rap gets, but the instrumentals aren't anything earth-shattering and the vocals just weren't great (and were too loud for such an ambient project). It's saved from a score below a 5 since there were some redeeming qualities, such as some moments of good lyricism and some ...
read moreWhat am I missing? Is this a joke? This is fucking horrendous. I'm not one to overreact and I rarely give scores below even a 4, so believe me when I say that I think this might be one of the ten worst albums I have ever heard. I want to say something positive, sooooo I guess there are times when the production is kinda okay?
I heard myself close my eyes, then open them
until the last three songs, this album is very boring. yes, it's ethereal and atmospheric, but it comes at the cost of sounding like the same song over and over again.
you will think this is good if you like JPEGMAFIA
This is vibes
Best track: Security!
I enjoy this in small doses. These vocals just kinda annoy me sometimes ngl.
AOTY contender. Checks so many boxes for me. I am not even sure what genre to call this now, experimental pop/r&b/ - it sounds like the future. Love the hints of valley girl talk on peroxide with the over the top lyrics pushing society's indifference in our face.

You could lose yourself, would you take that risk?"

It's stylized as "E" not "e"
The album is good, it should have had melodic instrumentals and in general the production isn't as great as Drain Gang members usually has. Ecco is talented vocally and he kept this project quite interesting alone. The album has few skips, but otherwise great with ambient sound and great aesthetics
Favorite Tracks:
AAA Powerline, Peroxide, Fragile, Security!, Time
Least Favorite Tracks:
Cc, Calcium, Sugar & Diesel, Don’t Ask, Blue Eyes
Ecco2k's E takes an ethereal and serene route with its large yet minimal production, but what brings the quality down is his performance and average writing
Best Tracks - PEROXIDE, CALCIUM, SUGAR & DIESEL
Worst Tracks - BLUE EYES
The debut album from Drain Gang affiliate Ecco2k was a sight to behold; having a copious amount of singles under his belt, Arogundade was the artist to look out for the most. On E, Zak blows his contemporaries out of the water with an album that’s leaps and bounds better than any project that any member of Drain Gang has put out thus far.
While this album ultimately wasn't my thing I can really appreciate the ethereal dream-like atmosphere that this album builds around the listener. I kind of just felt like "okay this is music" the whole time I was listening to it, in the sense that almost none of the songs really stood out to me other than Peroxide and Sugar & Diesel
I initially clicked on this album not really knowing what to expect, as I am now starting to really get into Drain Gang's music, and I was not disappointed. This album at first became really smooth, dreamy background music at first, but I felt myself being more and more drawn to the hazy production and the almost minimalist vocals. After about a day of listening to this album, i thought, "yeah, this is in my top 5 of 2019", which surprised me, because that almost never happens. I find ...
