The Skinny

Acclaimed New Zealand songwriter Nadia Reid's third record is beautifully crafted, incredibly assured and a welcome invitation to reflect and remain open.

The Line of Best Fit

Out of My Province is Reid’s most polished album to date.

Under The Radar

The appropriately titled Out of My Province, should bring Reid more attention and get her literally further and further afield. Out of her province maybe, but rarely out of her depth.

This is my first foray into the music of New Zealand born Nadia Reid and it is an incredibly pleasant one!
Out of My Province is a beautiful Singer-Songwriter album with strong influence from modern Folk and Country music. Nadia's voice is is gentle and airy, but incredibly clear at the same time, it floats over the top of a nice a variety of acoustic guitars, electric guitars, bass, electric organ and drums, there is also the occasional inclusion of strings and horns in the background.

But seriously, she looks like someone i know (also am i the only one who think that those glasses or well any of the glasses she way don't suit her face?)

With her warm, slightly nostalgic folkie style, Nadia Reid is a good candidate for the Spacebomb treatment. “Out of My Province” sees Reid team up with the Spacebomb crew, who dress up her acoustic folk ballads with some orchestral instrumentation and subtle jazzy flourishes. You can hear Natalie Prass in these instrumentals, though Reid’s songs themselves are straight-up Laura Marling — at times the similarities are almost uncanny. This is solid company to keep, and ... read more
