What distinguishes alternative power pop from plain old power pop? ... Most likely, the distortion and fuzzed vocals with which the trio Semisonic attempt to mask their happy, almost Beatlesque melodies.
I listened to this album like a year or two ago but forgot most things about it now after listening to Feeling Strangely Fine, Semisonic's follow up album and failing to get through Todd in the Shadow's friend on a random internet forum's generation's version of Pet Sounds which was their third and most recent album for the longest time which was Chemistry (it wasn't bad I just got bored) I have a lot more respect for Semisonic. Semisonic's "Feeling Strangely Fine" is one of my favorite albums ever, and while I can probably chalk some of that up to nostalgia, I do think of the "one-hit wonder" bands of the 90s, Semisonic's second album holds up as one of the better releases.
