Tant de belles mélodies

When I listen to Françoise, I inevitably think of my mum. My mother and I share a boundless love for many musical artists (Georges Brassens, Djeli Moussa Diawara, the Beatles, Neil Young... to name but a few). I vaguely remembered this album featured in one of my favorite movies, Moonrise Kingdom, so I decided to give the whole thing a listen. A quaint and beautiful record on the whole, its chill vibe and carefree personality really makes the experience feel like she’s serenading straight to you, personally.

I try to vary my genres and styles quite a bit when picking albums to listen or review. So I scrolled around the genres on AOTY and saw something called "yé-yé", something my lexicon had never heard of before. Apparently it's a European movement from the 60's, derived from the term "yeah-yeah!", an offspring of the rock 'n roll music from English countries mixed with the music from its roots.
