Never heard anything from Steely Dan but found them interesting enough to binge, so that's what we're doing now! Kicking things off with their jazzy pop rock debut Can't Buy A Thrill... it's pretty damn good!

This album is just really enjoyable through and through. It's chilled out, it's mellow, and the melodies plus the jazzy chord progressions are just so smooth. I've heard this a couple of times and on a few different platforms, but it doesn't get old. This is a good debut that set the bar high for other Steely Dan albums.
Many years later my ear holes have revealed the majesty of Becker/Fagen as songwriting dynamos especially as demonstrated on 'Can't Buy A Thrill.' The album art is the sole reason I did not score this 100. This is da Figz's escape music. Crafty, witty, poetic, melodic, sophisticated Pop majesty.
This and Aia are just such enjoyable, timeless long-play albums. I've had this since I was a child and few Dan songs get played-out over time like other 70's hits. Many people who like "rock" will tell you Steely Dan is the worst band of all time. These are people who would rather play Nickleback or Creed than something you can actually vibe out or jam to.
