Bring Me The Horizon throw off their tarnished cloak of deathcore and move into a much more accessible space.
Surprisingly really good at parts, especially with the occasional electronica influence as that happens in the first few songs, but later on sometimes falls into mediocre deathcore riffage at times that imo instrumentally isn't all that interesting that ended up going into There Is A Hell, which also imo ruined parts of it for me.

The work that triggered the rise of metalcore in the UK.
As a feature, first of all, unlike the US metalcore so far, the weight and hardness of the sound are exquisite. Secondly, the variety of rhythm arrangements will not make listeners bored. Finally, even when the vocal voice is screaming, there is melancholy and it is very attractive.
This album is really inconsistent, it has some of their best songs (Chelsea Smile, the title track) but also some completely forgettable stuff. But still a massive improvement from the terrible Deathcore they used to make at the beginning of their career.
A really great deathcore album from BMTH. The energy the tracks give off and the way BMTH seem to be wearing their heart on their sleeve for a bunch of songs is brilliant
An album overshadowed by their image of seeming to care more about their hair than the music. That may seem to have been the case with their debut but this album is a solid improvement and is what the band considers to be their real first foot in to music.

One thing I'd also like to add is that I wouldn't call this album "metalcore". The constant use of one string manipulation (like they barely touch anything lower than the first two strings on the entire album) as well as the lack ... read more
