If I break the ice directly I'll say that this album is still overrated by the professional critics!
Most of the time I found his synthpop to be soporific and unfortunately predictable.When the rhythm is faster on some songs it's a bit better but his writing and interpretation is to fill in the gaps, and as a result the album seems strangely long
So glad I discovered them on youtube. This album is of course a mashup of amazing synthpop songs.
2020 and we've seen a lot like this record, why is this so overrated?
There are good songs, but listening to all this for just a few songs is not worth it.
12 pop songs, no real fillers among them, with a great 80's vibe. 'Keeping Up' is a great example, if you want to dip your toes.
Boniface's self-titled debut sees him meet very simple synthpop and overly cliche indie pop with complex lyrics and a sense of maturity and romanticism that you don't find naturally in this genre, much less from a first album.
