The Chili Peppers are the closest thing we have to a Led Zepplin today. If you want quality, commercial, Jeep- stereo, headphone, stadium- filling, champion Rock that you can get behind, where else are you going to turn?

Somewhat inconsistent for me, has a lot of essencial iconic singles, but there's a good amount of filler stuff as well. Cut it down to a 10 track project and it would be a lot better, imo.
Sounds like RHCP, funky but still emotionally evocative dispite Anthony's shortcomings in the vocal departments, the man knows how to use what he has, and the band has always been capable of delivering fun and also sentimentality. I prefer red hot chili peppers more than this
The first half of this LP is the best Red Hot material out there.
I know RHCP gets a lot of unnecessary hate, but they are still one of my favorite rock groups of all-time and their magnum opus, 'Californication', is honestly one of my favorite albums of the '90s. The production is pretty poor, but I can look past that pretty easily. The stellar instrumentation and lyricism are what mainly holds my attention throughout the album.
