Fantastic and almost underrated, one of the most gifted-and-under-appreciated rappers out there, love his work with Method Man but this is dope. Like there are some seriously class tunes on here, as would follow on the next two albums (though I might need to rehear them to rate them). This is a really great record, mix of p-funk, boom bap, and hardcore hip hop, shit bangs
A classic debut from Redman, that provided an East-Coast MC rapping over Funk inspired production. Which has always been known to be an influence on the West Coast. I could play "Tonight's Da Night" a million times in a row and not get tired of it. It's Redman's best song, without question. The album is a major highlight for the East Coast, during a time that saw the start of the West Coast's prominence in Hip-Hop.
Redman is one of the most underappreciated emcees ever. Rarely mentioned in ‘best ever’ lists, but one the best to ever do it nonetheless, especially live. With this debut album, he immediately sets a high standard for himself. No weak tracks and filled with bangers, Redman never takes himself too seriously and drops a fun party album with tight production all around. An incredible debut.
