Whoa. This has been sitting in my library for a while and was looking for new stuff to get into. Decided to give it a listen and wow this is one of the better slum records ive heard in a while. A lot of slum artists tend to repeat the same sort of euphemisms over and over but i found that Ovrkast & his features actually had something to say. The production is stellar but at just 17 minutes, I wish there was a little bit more meat on the bones.
Who actually reads my reviews anyway? I haven't been doing too well recently. Changes in medication, feelings of loneliness and pain, missing the easier days... ah well, what can you do? In these times, I often turn to music for solace... for some kind of release. Albums like this are why. This is a gorgeous album that had me feeling emotional at multiple points. OVRKAST. EDITION: slums collective journey: part #7

Ovrkast. has built quite the catalog of EPs before finally coming though with his debut album. However being advertised and portrayed as a debut album, it still feels like an EP. This album is really great. I’m super glad that this didn’t fly under my radar because ovrkast. is a pretty exciting artist to me. I’m really pleased with this project, and I can’t wait to see what comes next. The production on this album is absolutely sublime across the board, even when the beats aren’t handled by ovrkast. himself. The features from Navy Blue & Mavi made for the most exciting moments on the album for me, but ovrkast. is certainly a competent ... read more
Ovrkast is the most recent artist i’ve been checking out in the niche rap style of artists like Earl Sweatshirt and Mike. He even features artists here like Mavi and Navy Blue establishing him as part of the scene . He standouts due to his production mostly though which makes up for how vocally he doesn’t standout as much. Some moments on here feel pretty sloppy but it doesn’t take away from my enjoyment too much . I can still see this growing on me , It’s super ... read more
