t’s really hard to keep track of The Men these days. You never really know if they’re going to show up as a Punk act or something else. “Mercy” is their softest album to date outside of a track or two. And that’s far from bad because the twilit melodies and extended jams work in their favor. At this point though I genuinely really wish the band would hone in on a sound and grow on in.

This album holds up fine as retro folky indie twang type music- which there is no shortage of. Not what I had hoped for from some of my favorite noisy garage rockers. Can’t knock them for exploring and taking things in a new direction. This album is not bad regardless of who made it. Will satisfy the cravings of any Black Mountain or Wilco fans.
Mercy is the 8th studio album by The Men and well it pretty average country rock which is not bad but not really good either and it a bit upsetting because slowly this band is becoming less interesting every since Devil Music / Drift.
