Honestly seeing the marks given by the professional critics I was expecting to discover a great album, finally it's not really the case, U kin B The Sun is a pleasant work but lacks originality on all points.
So certainly I discovered a great artist, originally from Vancouver, with a big heart and a contagious optimism. So I surveyed her career and her previous albums in order to have a means of comparison, and the first thing I felt was that there is no real evolution on this one. ... read more


I will forget about this record in roughly 24 hours. There is nothing here to really get excited about. The production is fine, Frazye Ford's vocals are good, the lyrics are alright. In all honestly, the critics are getting excited over nothing on this record, many other soul singers have achieved a better standard than Frazey Ford so I don't get the critics hype around this

I do see where the acclaim is coming from here, but to me only some of the components of this album are deserving of the praise. Her vocal style never stops being interesting. The way that she will hit a note not quite right, but she does it in a way that you instantly know it's intentional, gives music that's sometimes otherwise unremarkable an immediate level of intrigue that makes you want to hear how she's going to sing the next passage, in a way that reminds me of Billie Holiday.
