Moaning's second album is synth pop record with elements and personality of a post-punk album thus being labeled as a post-punk revival album. Well it is very good. We have seen the post-punk movement itself making great strides in recent years with The Murder Capital, IDLES, FONTAINES D.C, Ought. Post-Punk is long from being dead (and I am happy with that). Moaning’s 2nd full length brings forth a batch of atmospheric & laid back synth based pop-rock with some post punk characteristics. This is one of those records you just throw on during a late night thunderstorm and reminisce about how you got where you are. As someone who has praised the post-punk revival of the mid-2000s, something that I grew up on and really felt invested in, Uneasy Laughter is a welcome visitation to that era of music. I completely understand why someone wouldn't like this album. It isn't the best thing I've ever heard either. But it sounds like what I would imagine Interpol's latest album would be if it were good. Moaning encapsulates a niche sound of post-punk I haven't heard in years. They just remind me of early Interpol and Cage the Elephant and I forgot how much I love that sound.
