City Burials is a Gothic piece of Melodic Prog-Metal, dark and beautiful in its use of atmosphere. An orchestration of metal at its cleanest form. There's little deviation for anything extraordinarily experimental and that's fine because it shouldn't need to here. It's a somber sounding record and one that brings out the most its gothic throne room.
Saying this album is boring is an understatement. The band simply refuses to grow up or even take the slightest of chances.
After being slightly disappointed with The Fall of Hearts album, which was then followed by a hiatus with the band, I was overjoyed to hear they were back and hopefully fully recharged and ready to blow me away. From what I've read, this record was originally being written as a solo album for Jonas (vocalist) which I think really shows in a lot of the more reserved parts of these songs.
