Some cool ideas but there are some tracks here that I don't see myself coming back to often. These guys have to do more production rappers.
I really like how Mount Kimbie explores so much in such a subtle way. They make some UK Dubstep on this one and push a little bit the boundaries to expand the concept, and have a really fun and well made album.

The production is kind of low fi and it really works, the way they work all of the songs is odd, yet very well made; the whole album is really dynamic from start to finish, and it shows the potential the electronic duo has.

Mount Kimbie has successfully and thoroughly reverse engineered uk dubstep on this album. The songs here all sound like typical uk electronica, yet the way the duo has messed with the formula makes Crooks & Lovers stand out in glorious ways. It's not experimentation for experimentations sake, as Mount Kimbie quietly pushes the envelope forwards while still making reasonably club friendly cuts.
