The central philosophy of Brave Faces Everyone is that things are bad and there's no clear way of making them better, so all you can really do is brace yourself for whatever comes next. It's not an album about thriving. It's about just trying to get by — together.

An album that’s not perfect – but those who get it will fall in love with it.

Spanish Love Songs understand that even on the darkest, desolate morning there's hope to be had in waiting for the sun to come up.

Album of the Week (2-10-20)

"I hate the rhythm of our lives these days
Stare into a dead space
Shouting at my phone. Ducking in my seat
Cause someone brought a bag into the movie theater
Everyone shrugs at the same time. "Yeah, yeah, we know."
You're singing sad to thirty-somethings in a bar
"Play us some nostalgia songs
Cause no one really wants to hear about you anymore."
I know..."

Brave Faces Everyone is one of this week's releases that should not be missed because the image of the band that interpreted it this album has something deep. For those of you who don't know Spanish Love Songs is a 5 member Californian band from Los Angeles that has been mainly noticed with their very good last album Schmaltz.

In the continuation of what they previously proposed Brave Faces Everyone breathes the Emo Punk of California and stand out from the others of the genre, rhythmed by an ... read more

For fans of acts like The Menzingers, PUP, The Wonder Years, and modern pop punk that incorporates a little more emo grittiness Spanish Love Songs should certainly scratch an itch. The issue with Brave Faces Everyone is perfectly encapsulated in their contemporaries and how consistently they maintain the same sound and their reliance on something that already has an established fan base. With that in mind, although the group continue a sound that already exists, they deliver on it successfully. ... read more

Screw it... it's a 9. This is legitimately one of the most enjoyable pop punk albums I have ever listened to. What it lacks in originality it more than makes up in some incredibly slick, catchy, emotional writing. It also helps that this thing is solid front to back- not a dud here.

Pretty surprised that a pop punk album is my current AOTY but I'm not gonna pretend I've liked any other album nearly as much as this one.

This could potentially go up, but damn do I really love this album off of a first listen. It's like if The Wonder Years actually had emotional impact, if dramatic over-expression were more than listenable but enjoyable.

Edit: Yeah, it did go up. Still has the potential to go even further though, we'll see.
