With Alchemist at the helm, The Price Of Tea In China becomes the type of LP poised to land on numerous AOTY lists for heads embracing the underground revolution currently taking place in the Hip Hop game.

On their latest collaboration, the Detroit rapper and the Beverly Hills producer turn out one of the year’s most immersive rap albums.

Yea I really can't get into this project. A lot of tracks here are forgettable, which is surprising for an Alchemist-produced album. His delivery is just so mundane, even if his flow is smooth and pen game decent. The more Alc's beats do, the better the songs are, as the features tend to overshadow Boldy James here. Even Evidence, who I've never heard of before this listen, brings some heat: "All my words are just a letter short of swords and I enforceth" fire. Trading bars with Benny ... read more
I’m finally listening to all of Boldy James’s albums from 2020, so I started here. And this is actually pretty good.

Especially if we compare it to My 1st Chemistry Set, their first collaborative album together.

On the whole, I don't think that all the beats of The Alchemist are relevant and immersive enough, as ... read more
Don’t like this one as much as his second release of the year “Manger On McNichols”. If I’m honest i wasn’t really feeling this project at the start of the year. It grew on me though, and i love it now. The production by Alchemist is great as always and Boldy just rhymes on these beats with ease. Also the features are nothing to sneeze at: Evidence, Freddy Gibbs, Vince Staples and Benny The Butcher all come trough with great bars.

Favourite tracks: Grey October, ... read more
The best part about this record are when the nice beats are serenaded from the voices of better rappers then Boldy James.
