His musical and lyrical palette has broadened and his ambition seems to have broadened even further.

The Observer

Sumney’s palette is vastly expanded, including – but not limited to – chamber pop, R&B, soul, art pop, jazz, digitals and spoken word.

On græ: Part 1, the first instalment of his double album, Sumney makes art out of the seemingly colourless moments that are the true sum of our existence.

Wonderful. I could have stopped there.

This kind of album like Grae pt.1 reminds me why I'm in love with music and why it's also my greatest passion. He had already done some great things in 2017 with his debut album Aromanticism, but he showed us again how much he has the genius to be able to do something so good, and which why not in time will become even better than his previous one.

My god where to start... Moses Sumney has one of the most incredible voices in a decade, capable of ... read more
im tired of fucking giving 100s guys, stop making good music.

i have zero desire to review anything i like. i used to really like reviewing albums i liked, and now i have barely anything to say about them. im taking an official break! i mean i've kinda realized how boring my positive reviews are that aren't jokes. its just "wow this album is good" except 50 different times and i switch the words a bit. they all just feel very replaceable, and because of that i don't really care ... read more
Yeah i dont care i dont care i dont care. Grae will end up going down as a likely AOTY contender if part 2 is anywhere near this quality. I really have no complaints. Songwriting: incredible, instrumentals & production: incredible. Some may see the spoken word interludes as filler, but trust me they aren't . They mean a lot in the grand scheme of the themes and context. Moses Sumney's voice is angelic and I absolutely love this thing. The only reason this isn't higher is because I feel icky ... read more
I thought that this album would be good based off of the singles that I had heard. Yet, somehow, I wasn't able to properly estimate the amount of gravitas that this project would bring. There are so many incredibly important issues that are tackled within the runtime, and they are issues that generally receive a lack of attention in media, let alone more mainstream media. Polyamory, gender dysphoria and standards, there's just so much powerful material that is covered with the care of an ... read more
the only part i don't like is having to look at his ass when i click to play it for the 20th time

but seriously, moses put out a magnificent album, one that i would say is better than his last, and i loved Aromanticism. the instrumentals are more in your face and catchier and a improvement in the songwriting makes for one of the best albums to start off this decade
