what isn’t equal is the engineering and mixing , these aspects are the reason i love sonic boom. this feels less like an album, and more as a serving compilation: a career filler for ideas compounding over the last decade. while listening, i became disappointed , believing his recent 2018 work with beach house to be eons better. still, this is detailed and unique
I think that if the tracks longer than five minutes, something must happen in them. Some kind of rhythm change, interesting vocal or musical intersperses. Something like that. Even if it is such a specific genre as neo-psychedelia. Nothing happens here. Monotonous and absolutely drab synthesizer porridge with “vocal” (if it can call that way) accompaniment.
Having fallen very heavily into Spacemen 3 and Spiritualized over the past year, I was pleasantly surprised to see this album’s release.

If you have followed Sonic Boom’s work before, whether in Soacemen 3 or in collaboration with MGMT, Panda Bear, or Beach House, I would say this album is worth a run through. Atmospheric density of a black hole that just took LSD.

The quality of the synthesizer and patchwork knowledge here is enviable. A true master of his craft that, although a massive nostalgia head, Sonic Boom still maanges to sound contemporary and with the times.
