Stare Into Death And Be Still is a real earthquake in the truest sense of the word, but also synonymous with a new air that opens up to Death Metal. To best describe this album, you have to imagine, huge violent explosions that reduce planet earth to nothingness. At a time when nothing connects man to life anymore, hope is now buried, letting nature and divinities take back control of history. Without any respite, the band Ulcerate releases so much power and coldness through their music, that I ... read more
If you're looking for some technical-ass death metal, then "Stare into Death and Be Still" is a place to start! I've been wanting to get more into the metal genre for a long time and I was hooked onto this thing! The blasting drums are so fucking ridiculous, the repetition of these sludgy guitars is addicting and the growls are brooding as fuck! It lacks a little in variation, but the content here is so haunting and face-punching that it's easy to forgive it.

Very strong 7/light 8 from me.
Fair warning - my score of this is liable to go up. Maybe it's just me, but I'm an absolute sucker, on my KNEES, for this type of technical, dissonant, melo-death. Be it the immaculate discographies of Gorguts and Slugdge or the admirable first LP from Hath released last year, I just slurp this shit right into my soul. And Ulcerate has proven to be one of the most consistently great bands in this bleak area of the metal dimension.

With Stare Into Death and Be Still, Ulcerate may have ... read more
