Explores rock's sonic possibilities from the head and the gut, without diluting the intention or diminishing its essence ... WHITE PONY is invigorating.
Massive in pretension, slightly too long and gothic, but when all the pieces fit, you can't deny its unstoppable power.
White Pony ... simply lacks the fire and energy that made the group's earlier efforts so exciting.
White Pony ends up being more accessible than the group's two previous albums, because it's not a half-formed mess but a classic alternative-rock album, as gentle and catchy as it is dark.
Their most adventurous and assured album to date ... Best appreciated if your 16, covered in spots and not scared of falling off your skateboard ... A welcome addition to 2000's modern-metal canon.
Sadly, because many of Pony's songs have all the clarity of roadside attractions glimpsed from the Interstate, you often come away remembering only these goony sonic details.
Deftones are unspeakably bad, not because of their constipated sluggishness or their abattoir unlistenability, but because, beneath the hateful, grubby topsoil of their third album, there's nothing but void, nothing that hints beyond the lazy psychology of oblivion.

Amazing. Way more ambitious than the previous project. The bangers go even harder, and the longer tracks absolutely kick ass. great project.
One of the most emotionally complex metal albums ever made.
Deftones are probably one of my favorite metal bands, but although I loved this album when I first listened to it about eight months ago, I haven't quite revisited it since then, and it grew off me a little bit with time. But for some reason I wanted to come back to it last week, to see if it can respark my love for it, and oh boy, it did.
This is Deftones' third studio album, and their defining album in terms of their sound and ... read more
[DEFTONES: ALBUM DIVE 3]
"Pushed back the square. Now that you need her. But you don't, so there you go."
God, this album is such a fun listen. It's dark and loud, and it has such a satisfying end.
I highly recommend this album if you haven't listened to it yet.

Probably the most fulfilling Deftones album. Everything feels so punchy and creates a very unique vibe. Everything just works.
