The golden-voiced singer from Houston has received plenty of hype in the first quarter of 2020; on Heaven Or Hell, he proves he can live up to it.

Although the project heavily draws on Travis Scott’s style, Don Toliver’s high vocals create a whole new sound whilst still paying homage to his mentor. It’s a great solo introduction into the industry.

The melodic Texas rapper attempts to step out of Travis Scott's shadow with a debut that mimics Scott at every turn.

The Needle Drop

Don Toliver spends pretty much all of Heaven or Hell in the shadow of Travis Scott's sound.

Heaven or Hell ? Dear Don, no matter what happens, you will go to heaven.

The expectation around the MVP nominee Don Toliver was quite impressive, maybe too strong unfortunately, maybe that's what can give this impression of disappointment at first. The production isn't as good as it was on Donny Womack, don't get me wrong it's good and it has some cool traits to it but feels very lifeless and it just kinda blends together and becomes non-distinct after the first three tracks. Don Toliver adding little to no energy into these beats a lot of the time doesn't help ... read more
