Slam metal as a genre is... an acquired taste, and I think most people that are familiar with the guttural, drainpipe vocals and just pure, pummeling heaviness of it would agree. I enjoy my fair share of slam, but I normally can only stand it in short bursts before I need a chaser.
The unholy fusion of slam and brutal death on "Four Dimensional Flesh", from the beasts that make up Afterbirth, is a completely different animal.
