While Kaleo aren't breaking any new ground here, they more or less prove themselves adept at their chosen brand of bluesy modern rock, riding the dynamics with vigor and plenty of affected grit.
with numerous delays, an inevitable sophomore slump, and an objective approach, i figured that ‘surface sounds’ would be disappointing. however, this album lets down in a much more drastic sense than expected, largely because kaleo are capable of so much more.

on ‘surface sounds’, kaleo play it safe. this project is hardly permissible by the standard formerly set by the icelandic group.

KALEO step back up to the plate and deliver a hard rock/blues rock/folk rock experience that is going to leave fans, like myself, very happy. I definitely need a few listens to this album, but this is a strong album for the group.
So far, 2021 wasn't a year where I was waiting for many musicians to come back. I was mainly waiting for two releases : dodie's debut album “Build A Problem” & Charlotte Cardin's debut album “Phoenix”. They are both artists with lots of qualities and I am very excited to hear their projects.

It has some solid tracks, some fillers, the main issue with Surface Sounds is that it is the very same surface that we were introduced to five years ago, with no real depth to explore.
A/b, kaleos Last record, is my favourite record ever. I absolutely love the a/b concept, with 5 bluesrock songs and 5 folk songs. So I was more than excited to listen to this record

First at all let me say this record is quite. I can say all the songs have at least some quality to it, except my fair lady.
