Simply the best song in the last 10 years. One of those songs that you wish you could hear for the first time again, just to get that feeling of awe.
Perfect track from one of our generation’s greatest (if not the greatest) r&b albums. The instrumental transition on “Pyramids” is better than that of the famous beat switch on “Nights”, as I feel it all feels more cohesive and whole than the latter. It's mystical yet transparent, soft yet heavy, long yet not quite long enough. By the time this 10 minute masterpiece ends, you're left astounded by the vividness of the songwriting and astounded how such a wonderful piece of music could have anything to do with John Mayer all the same. Somehow throughout the whole thing, Frank manages to weave the story of a prominent character in ancient history to the tale of a modern day stripper. It's quite the spectacle.
Frank Ocean really just shocked me with this song. Song of the year.
